Technical overview

About AriClot™ Hemostatic Powder

AriClot Hemostatic Powder, a flagship product of the knowledge-based company Healda, is engineered as a third-generation topical hemostat based on micro-porous plant polysaccharides (MPH). Its mechanism relies on rapid blood dehydration technology: on contact with blood, the powder particles instantly absorb the liquid phase (plasma) and concentrate a bed rich in platelets, fibrin and clotting factors. The result is a robust gelatinous barrier that physically seals the bleeding path while accelerating the physiological coagulation cascade.

Because the material is non-protein based and highly biocompatible, it provokes no inflammatory reaction or granuloma in host tissue. The ergonomic single-use AriClot applicator lets the surgeon deliver powder precisely, even into deep pockets that are hard to reach in open and laparoscopic procedures. AriClot contains no chemical cross-linkers; once hemostasis is achieved it is broken down by the body's amylase enzymes and cleared completely, which sharply reduces the risk of post-operative infection.

FAQ

Common questions about this product

After hemostasis is achieved, does the remaining powder need to be removed from the wound?
No. AriClot powder must never be rinsed out of the wound after use; it is absorbed by the body completely.
How long does the product take to be fully absorbed?
Depending on the patient and the tissue type, the powder is typically absorbed within 7 to 14 days without provoking an inflammatory response.
Can the product be used in laparoscopic surgery?
Yes. Thanks to its slim dedicated applicator, AriClot is well suited to bleeding control in minimally invasive procedures.
Is the powder allergenic?
AriClot contains no animal proteins or human-derived components, which minimises the risk of disease transmission and allergic or immune reactions.
